Hike Today, Hike Tomorrow

An Appalachian Trail SOBO Story, Told 200 Miles at a Time

It’s been a few years and a few thousand miles since I hiked the Appalachian Trail. As I prepare to finish the Continental Divide Trail and cap off my Triple Crown, I felt the need to share the journey that started it all.

On a perfect July day in Maine, I started a-walking on down to Georgia. All that happened in those four months will not all show up in this 10 part series, but there are a few good stories to tell. Some of those include:

  1. Watching a hiker get helivac’ed on day one.
  2. How I ended up spending a night at a nudist resort.
  3. Losing my favorite person in the whole world.
  4. 1,000 miles without a zero day.
  5. “The three simple steps to losing your mind and becoming a better person.”
A few screws may have come loose along the way…

I will post every Tuesday and Friday for the next month or so until this little project is completed. I hope you’ll stick around, and take a glimpse into how a thru hike changed the way I live my life.
